Keywords: Genre, KTSP Curriculum, Text Book One of the materials that are studied by the students is genre. Genre is text type that consists of social function, generic structure and language features. An English book used by Senior High School, one of them, is Prestise English Text Book published by Era Pustaka Utama. The study was directed to find out genres, the social functions, the generic structure, language features and the relevancy of the book with the students’ need. The formulation of the research problems were: (1) What kinds of genres are available in the Prestise English Text Book for the eleventh year of Senior High School Published by Era Pustaka Utama ?. (2) What language function, generic structure and language features are suited in the Prestise English Text Book for the eleventh year of Senior High School Published by Era PustakaUtama ?. (3) Are genres used in the Prestise English text book for the eleventh year of Senior High School Published by Era Pustaka Utama suited with the KTSP curriculum ? The purpose of the study were : (1) To know the genres are available in the English text book for the eleventh year that published by Era Pustaka Utama. (2) To know the language function, generic structure and language features of texts in the English text book for the eleventh year that published by Era Pustaka Utama. (3) To know whether the genres of the text in the English text book for the eleventh year that published by Era Pustaka Utama are suited with the KTSP curriculum. Research Method: (1) This study belonged to descriptive design with qualitative approach. (2) The data was genres, language features, generic structure ad language features, meanwhile, source of data of this study was Presetise English Text Book. (3) Technique of data collection was library research. (4) The data analysis was content analysis. The result showed that (1) There were three kinds of genres on Prestise English Text Book. They were report, narrative and analytical exposition. Meanwhile, (2) the social function of report text was to describe the way things are, with reference to a range of natural, man-made and social phenomena in our environment, the generic structure was general classification and description. The language features included the used simple present, behavioral verbs, relating verb, technical term and the language of report text was usually neutral. Meanwhile the social function of narrative text was to amuse or entertain the reader with actual/imaginative experiences. The generic structure of narrative text was orientation, complication, resolution and reiteration. The language features were focus on specific time and participant, use adjective, pronoun, time conjunction, simple past, past continuous, past perfect, linking verb, saying and action verb and also direct and indirect speech. The social function of analytical exposition was to persuade the listeners or readers that something is the case. The generic structure of analytical exposition was thesis, arguments and reiteration, furthermore the language features were focus on generic human or non-human participants, use simple present conjunction and relational process. (3) The genres of the text explained in Prestise English Text Book for the eleventh year that published by Era Pustaka Utama. Some of them were suited but most of them were not suited with KTSP curriculum. The reason was that the genre did not explain details about the Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing skill.
