Effectiveness of Listening In Action Method for Learning News Writing Skills in Online Learning for Class VIII-E Students of SMPN 2 Ngadiluwih. Indonesian Education Department. The listening in action is a method that requires students to be active in listening activities in order to be able to write news texts from what they have listened to. Listening in action puts three emphasis on listening activities. First, listening in action emphasizes that listening is an active process. Second, listening in action emphasize that listening plays an active role in language learning. Third, listening prioritiezes the teacher as an active “researcher” about developing listening skills. News is a source of information that contains factual events or events and attracts the attention of the general in nature and has just happened. In the news there are news points, namely what, where, who, why, and how. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the listening in action method for learning to write online learning news texts for class VIII-E students of SMPN 2 Ngadiluwih. This research is a quantitive quasi-experimental research (QuasiExperimental Design) in the form of a pretest-posttest control-experiment groupi design. This study applies the listening in action method for the experimental group and conventional methods for the control group. The population in this research were all class VIII students of SMPN 2 Ngadiluwih in academic year 2021/2022. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, so that class VIII-E was obtained as the research sample which acted as the control group as well as the experimental group. The data collection technique used a test technique in the form of an essay test. Test the hypothesis in this research using the t-test. The results of this research resulted in the control group’s average score from 60 pretest to 80 posttest, while the experimental group got an average score of 62 pretest to 83 posttest. These results indicate an increase in the experimental group who received treatment with the listening in action method. This research concludes that the listening in action method is effectively used in learning to write news texts. This is proven by the results of Mann-Whitney which was carried out on the posttest scores of the control group and the experimental group that had been carried out. From the calculations obtained a significance value of 0,000 (this value when placed in microsoft excel will display value 9.26655993350646E-07) which means that the value is more than 0,05. Thus, the hypothesis based on the t-test reads Hi is accepted and Ho is is rejected, which means that the listening in action method is effectively used in learning to write news texts.
