Thei Analysis of Students’ Problems and the Strategies in Online Reading Practice during Pandemic Covid-19 Era Thesis English Educationi Department State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung Advisor: Dr. Arina Shofiya, M. Pd. Keywords: Online Reading, Reading Problems, Reading Strategies. Covid-19 has had a major impact on all walks of life in the world. This has had a crisis impact in the education sector. Online reading also has problems, such as problem from internal and external. Realizing that the problems should be overcome, the students founds 3 strategies that was give them benefit ways to gain their reading skill in the Covid-19 era. With these new conditions, students need guidance and assistance from teachers or lecturers. The formulation of this research is (1) What are the student’s problems in online reading practice during pandemic Covid-19 era? (2) What are the strategies to solve the problems? The purpose of this study is to describe problem analysis and to find out how students solve problems in online reading activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques using in-depth interviews and documentation. The data analysis method used data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. To prove and accurate the findings, the researcher adhered to four types of triangulation: (1) method triangulation (2) triangulation source, (3) analysis triangulation, (4) perspective triangulation. The results are: (1) In online reading practice, there internal and external problems. From the case of internal problems are lack of vocabulary and visual fatigue. External factors show that it is not interesting to read new topics. (2) The strategies students use to solve their reading problems are cognitive, metacognitive and socio-affective.
