Abstract

ABSTRACT   Mudrikatun N, Irfah..NIM. 12203173182. The Difference Between The Assimilation Produced By Alumni of BEC students and The One by English Department Students of IAIN Tulungagung. Thesis. English Education Department. Faculty of Education and Teacher, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Nurul Chojimah, M.Pd.   Keyword: Assimilation, Communication, English Language is a human communication tool with others to have good relation each other. Having communication with human without language is impossible. Thus, language is needed to complete human necessary. Such as in Linguistics, it must be mastered and learned each human. So, miscommunication never happens. In this study, the researcher is interested in analysing English assimilation. Assimilation is the sound changing process of phoneme which causes the near or following phoneme to be similar sound influenced by other articulation. The researcher took assimilation because assimilation can be produced by Alumni of BEC students and IAIN English department students to be reference for English learner. Meanwhile, assimilation can be learned to improve English skill of student. There are two research questions in this research. They are : (1) What assimilation is produced by Alumni of BEC students and English Department Students of IAIN Tulungagung? (2) How does the assimilation produced by Alumni of BEC students differ from the one produced by English Department Students of IAIN Tulungagung. The aims of this research are to find out : (1) Assimilation produced by Alumni of BEC students and English department students os IAIN Tulungagung. (2) The diffirent of assimilation produced by both subjects. This research is conducted using descriptive qualitative research method. The data collection technique is documentation. The object of this research is assimilation. The data was taken from the different audio recording pronounced by two different subjects. The data analysis procedures were: (1)selecting data provided, (2)analysing the data, (3)classifying the data, and (4)interpreting the data. Based on the process of data analysis, it was found that: (1) two types of assimilation produced by them. They were anticipatory and coalescence assimilation.(2) assimilation produced by English department student of IAIN Tulungagung was more dominant produced correctly than the one produced by Alumni of BEC students. The researcher found just two types of assimilation. They were anticipatory and coalescence assimilation. Assimilation produced by Alumni of BEC students differ from the one produced by English Department Students of IAIN Tulungagung. From this thing, it can be concluded that knowledge is important to have for every learners. This research also reminds the English learners and others to practice or implement assimilation as the process of learning to be alternative way in learning English. This assimilation is suitable enough used during learning English, even this era. It is really helpful to improve somebody skills of speaking, listening or grammar.
