State Islamic University (UIN) of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor : Dr.Sukarsono, M.Pd. Keywords : Metaphor, Figurative Language, Emotion, Speech act Learning language is considered the primary practise of communication, it takes a kind of language pattern using in communication. The process requires participant, namely speaker and listener. The topic of conversation may be a variety, using figurative language is one part of communication process. People uses it to express their feeling and emotion. Metaphor is a figurative language that shows unreal meaning of word without preposition as. It is commonly used in conversation. By adding the metaphor, the conversation plays in different atmosphere and more intense. The important thing is to make sure between speaker and listener understand what the mean of conversation in communication. It is the rules of context that describes about the background of conversation. Film is a media that consists of audio visual that uses communication. Therefore, the researcher chooses Sing movie to conduct research about metaphor analysis. Because this movie is relatable to use figurative language especially using metaphor in conversation. The formulated questions of this research : 1) What types of metaphor are used in Sing movie? 2) What communicative purposes are used in Sing movie? Research method : 1) This researcher used qualitative method with content analysis to describe the metaphor of this film. 2). The data source in this research were Sing movie and the conversational fragment 3) The researcher used document analysis to collect data from the conversational. 4) The primary instrument was the researcher 4) The data analysis were used data reduction, data display, and data verification. The research findings : 1) The types of metaphor based on Lakoff and Johnson that is found in the movie by giving description, the types of metaphor, as follow structural metaphor, Ontological metaphor, and Orientational metaphor. Following by the emotion of metaphor based on Konvecses, as follows anger consists of 5 data, fear consists of 5 data, happiness consists of 18 data, sadness consists of 10 data, pride consists of 17 data, shame consists of 5 data, surprised consists of 3 data, 2) The data of communicative purposes based on Searle speech act, the following data are assertives, directives, commisives, and expressives.
