Abstract

Online learning involve not only students’ perception, but also parents’ perception. Parents perception is a process in which parents interpret their sensory impressions in an effort to give a certain meaning to everything they sense based on a hunch to the truth or belief they have. Parents is very important and effective in the survival of children’s learning to run like school in the Covid-19 pandemic. Parents who do not pay attention to their children's education can cause children to be less or even unsuccessful in learning. On the other hand, parents who always pay attention to their children, especially attention to their learning activities at home, will make children more active and more enthusiastic in learning because they know that it is not only themselves who want to progress, but their parents also have strong desires. So that learning outcomes or learning achievements achieved by students become better. This research aimed to find out parents’perception on their children English learning practices during the Covid-19, the formulation of the research problems were (1) How are the parents’ opinion on their children’s English learning practices in term of preparation during the Covid-19, (2) How are the parents’ opinion on their children’s English learning practices in term of facility during the Covid-19, (3) How are the parents’ perception on their children’s English learning practices in term of their participation during the Covid-19. This research was a qualitative research, with a descriptive research design. Sources of data used in this study was four parents. Methods of data collection was done by doing observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of observations, interviews and observations from participants would be displayed descriptively to answer research questions. This research was conducted in Rejowinangun Village, which is located at Kanjeng Jimat Street, Trenggalek. The findings of this study were (1) Dealing with the children’s preparation in online learning, the parents percieve that their children’s prepare their online learning well. (2) Dealing with the facilities given by the teacher during online learning, the parents view that the children are given various and good facilities to support learning. (3) Related to children’s participation in online learning, the parents sees that the children participate actively and enthusiastic. The result of the study indicate that the perception of parents on their children leads to a positive thing.
