Faculty of Teaching Training And Education. State Islamic University Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. H. Nursamsu, M. Pd. Keywords: Code Mixing, Types, Teachers Reason, Dominant Type Code-mixing is one of the strategies used by English teacher in teaching and learning process in the classroom. Code mixing is changing one language into another language in sentence without change the meaning of the sentence. The teachers mixed some words in Indonesia and English languages to explain the material or even to communicate in the classroom. The formulation of the research problems were :(1)What are the type of code mixing used by English teachers in teaching learning process at SMK Tamansiswa Kediri? .(2)What is the dominant type of code mixing used by English teachers in teaching learning process at SMK Tamansiswa Kediri?. And, (3)Why did the English teachers use code mixing in teaching learning process?. The aims of the study were : (1) To describe the type of code mixing used by English teachers in teaching learning process at SMK Tamansiswa Kediri? (2) To find out the dominant type of code mixing that used by English teachers in teaching learning process. And, (3) To know the reasons of English teachers used code mixing in teaching learning process.   The research method of this study: (1) the research design of this study was descriptive research with qualitative approach (2) data source of the research was English teachers in SMK Tamansiswa Kediri and the students. (3) the method of collecting data was recording, observation, and interview (4) technique of verification data was triangulation methodologically (5) technique of data analysis was data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. This study aims to determine the type of code mixing, the dominant type of code mixing and the reasons teachers use code mixing in the teaching and learning process at SMK Tamansiswa Kediri. The results showed that there were three types of code mixing used by English teachers in the teaching and learning process,(1) insertion, (2) alternation, and (3) congruent lexicalization. Alternation code mixing is the dominant type used by English teachers in the teaching and learning process, that is 73 utterances including alternation, 55 utterances including intetion and 39 utterances including congruent lexicalization. Meanwhile, the reason why teachers use code mixing in the teaching and learning process is the situation and lack of vocabulary.
