Abstract

APSTRACT Keywords :Inquiry Technique, Vocabulary Vocabulary is the most important one for those who want to be mastery every language. The reason was when we are going to speak, write, or learn another language we lot of vocabularies. In fact in the field most of students’ have problem in memorizing the new vocabularies. They also happened in “ SMP 2 Sumbergempol” especially the students seventh grade. Method of inquiry is a learning method that seeks to instill the basics of scientific thinking on students, so that students in the learning process is much more to learn themselves, develop creativity in solving problems. The statement of the problem as follows” how is the implementation of inquiry technique in teaching vocabulary at junior hight school sumbergempol be improved by using inquiry technique?”. The purpose of the study is how this technique could improve the students’ vocabulary mastery in the seventh grade of Islamic junior high school sumbergempol The design of the research was classroom action research based on the model cammis &Mc Taggart. The procedure were planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The subject of this study were 40 students of seventh grade. In the study, the researcher could achieve the criteria success in two cycles. As the finding it was shown that there was improvement of the students’ vocabulary mastery from preliminary study to the last meeting. The result of preliminary study showed that the students’ average scores is 68,1 and there was only 6 students who get 75, while the result of cycle 1 showed that the student averange is 74,5 and there were 15 students who get the result 75 and the result of cycle 2 showed that the students’ averange is 79,08 and there were 31 students who get schore 75 estimate 78 % students passed in post test. Beside that, the students’ motivations were increased based on their class involvement and questionnarie As the conclusion of the study, the students’ vocabulary mastery could be improved using inquiry technique. the improvement was caused by the students’ interest in the use of inquiry technique. Students’ felt more relaxed during English class and they also have good motivation in learning process. APSTRAK Kata kunci: peningkatan, penguasaan kosa kata, tekhnik inquiry Kosa kata adalah komponen yang terpenting untuk siapapun yang mau untuk menguasai setiap bahasa alasanya adalah ketika kita mau berbicara, menulis atau mempelajari bahasa kedua atau bahasa lain kita membutuhkan banyak kosa kata. Akan tetapi yang terjadi di lapangan murid-murid malas untuk menghafal kosa kata baru, hal ini juga terjadi di “SMP 2 sumbergempol”terjadi pada murid yang duduk di kelas tujuh. Tehnik inquiry merupakan metode pembelajaran yang berupaya menanamkan dasar-dasar berfikir ilmiah pada diri siswa, sehingga dalam proses pembelajaran ini siswa lebih banyak belajar sendiri, mengembangkan kreativitas dalam memecahkan masalah. Permasalahan yang terjadi sebagai berikut” bagaimana penerapan tekhnik inquiry dalam pengajaran kosa kata di SMP?” dan “apakah penguasaan kosa kata di kelas tujuh yang berada di SMP 2 Sumbergempol akan meningkat dengan mengggunakan tekhnik inquiry?” tujuan dari pembelajaran ini adalah bagaimana tekhnik ini dapat meningkatkan kosa kata yang lemah, di kelas tujuh SMP 2 Sumbergempol. Model penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang mengadopsi dari teori kemmis danMc Taggart.Prosedur penelitian ini adalah planning, Implementation, Observasi, dan refleksi.dari pembelajaran ini terdiri dari 40 siswa yang terdiri dari kelas tujuh di SMP 2 sembergempol pada tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Mereka mengalami motivasi yang sangat lemah dan mempunyai penguasaan kosa kata yang sangat lemah semua ini di ketahui dari preliminary study. Dalam penemuan ini di temukan telah terjadi peningkatan kosa kata pada murid-murid dari preliminary study sampai pertemuan terakhir. Hasil preliminary study di buktikan pada rata-rata 68,1 dan terdapat hanya 6 murid yang mendapat nilai 75, dari hasil nilai siklus pertama adalah 74,5 dan terdapat 15 murid yang mendapat 75 dan dari hasil nilai dari siklus kedua adalah 79,088 dan terdapat dari 31 murid yang mendapatkan nilai 75 dengan rata-rata 78 % dari murid lulus dalam kuliah. Di samping itu, motivasi siswa meningkat berdasarkan kegiatan kelas dan soal Sebagai kesimpulan penelitian ini, penguasaan vocab siswa dapat meningkat tmenggunakan tekhnik inquiry.Murid murid merasa lebih senang selama pembelajaran bahasa inggris dan mereka juga mengalami peningkatan motivasi selama proses pembelajaran.
