Keywords: Educational Value, Movie, Wonder, Dear Evan Hansen Literature is a work of art that has constantly been a part of human civilization since a long time ago. Over the time, the types of literature became varied, depends on the cultures, languages, and also the civilization itself. Back then, our parents saw theater dramas. In the digital and globalized era, dramas/plays in the theater have been replaced by films/movies. Movies are literature because they may be examined and analyzed like written texts. Movies is the one of the communication tools that actually supports an effective learning process. Every movie brings its own unique messages that could move the viewers. Transferring knowledges using stories are more fun and understandable than the textbook. In this research, the researcher focuses on analyzing the educational value in the “ Wonder” and “Dear Evan Hansen” movies. The formulations of research problems are: 1) What are the educational values found in the “Wonder” and “Dear Evan Hansen” movies? 2) How are the educational values portrayed in the “Wonder” and “Dear Evan Hansen” movies? The objectives of the research are: 1) To analyze what are the educational values found in the “Wonder” and “Dear Evan Hansen” movies. 2) To know how are the educational values portrayed in the “Wonder” and “Dear Evan Hansen” movies. The researcher uses qualitative approach to conduct this study. Then, the research design of this study is documentation or content analysis. The data in this study are the words/dialogue in the scenes of the film that contains educational value. Then, the primary data source is taken from the movies, then secondary data source is the transcript of both movies. The results of this study are 63 in total data found from both movies. In “Wonder” movie, there are 14 values and a total of 38 data found about educational values. Those are: 7 data about sincerity, 5 data about helpful, 4 data about honesty and mutual sharing, 3 data about tolerance, patience, and respectful, 2 data about empathy, persistence & tenacity, then, only 1 data found each about valuable lessons, danger of evil, repay evil with good, quality of the good deeds and put the good over the bad. Then, in the “Dear Evan Hansen” movie, there are 10 values and a total of 22 data found about educational values. Those are 4 data about sincerity, 3 data about empathy, honesty, patience, and mutual sharing, 2 data about the danger of evil, then only 1 data found each about valuable lessons, helpful, persistence & tenacity, and tolerance. viii In addition, 3 data were found on how the educational values are portrayed in the “Wonder” and “Dear Evan Hansen” movies. Those are: (1) Values that are portrayed by the utterance of the casts, (2) Values that are portrayed by the act of the casts, and (3) Values that are portrayed by the stages of the storyline.
