Abstract

ABSTRACT Thesis with the title "Strategies of Teaching Writing Narrative Text at the Tenth Grade Students of MA Darul Hikmah Tulungagung in Academic Year 2010/2021". Written by Atalariq Rachman Ardiansyah, NIM 12203173223, English Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, State Islamic Institute of Tulungagung, Advisor Dr. Sukarsono, M.Pd. Keywords: Teaching, Writing, Narrative Text The teacher's strategy is an important part of the learning process. This thesis discusses about strategies used by teacher in teaching writing narrative texts, and what problems are faced when implementing these strategies. With this thesis, it is hoped that it can help teachers to teach writing narrative texts when learning takes place in the classroom. The research problem of this study are (1) What strategies used by teacher in teaching writing narrative text at the tenth grade students of MA Darul Hikmah Tulungagung in academic year 2020/2021, (2) What problems are faced by teacher in teaching writing narrative text at the tenth grade students of MA Darul Hikmah Tulungagung in academic year 2020/2021. The design used in this research is qualitative with descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used in this study were interview, observation and documentation. The subjects of this study were the tenth grade English teacher at MA Darul Hikmah Tulungagung and tenth grade students of MA Darul Hikmah Tulungagung. The data analysis used is data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Based on the research finding, the strategies used by the teacher in teaching writing narrative text at the tenth grade students of MA Darul Hikmah Tulungagung are discovery learning, expository and cooperative learning strategies. The teacher divided the stages when teaching writing narrative text, namely pre-writing, writing draft, and writing narrative texts. The problems faced by teacher in teaching writing narrative text at the tenth grade students of MA Darul Hikmah Tulungagung are students' incomprehension in reading, student delay in submitting assignments, and students feel bored easily when learning in class.
