Abstract
ABSTRACT Hilma Nabila, 2022. Students' Perceptions of Media used by Teachers in Teaching English Online to Eighth Students in Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS) Trenggalek under the thesis of English English Education Department Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FTIK) State Islamic University Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor : Dr. Hj. Ida Isnawati, M.Pd Keywords : Perception, Learning Media, Online learning Education involves a very broad and complex dimension. Many factors must receive attention if students want the learning process to run smoothly, effectively and efficiently. Learning media as a means to transfer knowledge and attitudes is a very important factor, especially if the learning process uses online. This online learning system aims to suppress the development of the corona virus, especially in schools and students. This condition requires that all teachers in all subjects must be good at finding media and learning methods so that the process of learning activities goes well and learning objectives can be achieved well. This research research aimed to find out (1) The media used by the teachers in teaching English online; (2) The student’s perception of the instructional media used by the English teachers in teaching english online. This data was taken using method descriptive survey research, namely sending questionnaire to 20 students of grade 8 MBS as the object of research. The incoming data is then processed by researchers using a Likert scale method. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that, firstly, the types of media used by English teachers in teaching English online are mobile phones, laptops, textbooks and dictionaries. Second, students' perceptions of the use of learning media tend to be positive, that is, the media can still make it easier to understand lessons; they feel enthusiastic, happy, active, not bored learning english; can help in practicing and improving listening skills (listening), improve speaking skills (speaking), improve reading skills (reading) and improve writing skills (writing); can help in enriching their English vocabulary; can make it easier to increase English assignments and they are even optimistic that they will still be able to maintain their English achievement scores.
