Abstract

The ability to speak is an action that involves the exchange of ideas or information, as well as effective communication. It is important for students to learn how to speak properly; to perfect this talent, students must be taught how to use English in communicative activities. This thesis is intended to describe the results of research on improving students' speaking skills using study club techniques. This method was effective in improving students' speaking skills when taught using the study club method compared to when taught without using the study club technique. The formulations of this research are: 1) is there any effect of using Study Club on students' speaking ability? The purpose of this study was to improve students' speaking skills through Study Club techniques. The research design of this research is quantitative. A total of 21 students from class X-A at Darul Falah Islamic Senior High School Sumbergempol Tulungagung participated as the study's subjects. The independent variable in this study was the students who joined the Study Club and the dependent variable was the students' speaking ability. Data collection techniques used test instruments which were analyzed using the SPSS program. In the experimental class, the average pre-test score was 50.71, and the average post-test score was 70.95. The pre-test and post-test scores significantly differ based on the results of the two tests. That is, the experimental class scored better on the post-test than it achieved on the pre-test. Applying the approach will help you talk more clearly. Pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluency, and comprehension can all be improved through group discussions. It can be said that after receiving treatment using the learning club technique, the students' speaking abilities in the experimental class improved more successfully.
