Keywords: Interpersonal meaning, Mood, speech function, modality, motivational speech Good communication happens when both speaker and listener understand what they are talking about mutually. Sometimes, the wrong structure of the sentence can impact the meaning. The structure of sentence can be a basis to determine about what the speaker talks. The structure and the speech function of sentence can be known by learning interpersonal meaning. The structure of sentence is also known as Mood. Mood can specify the speech function of a clause. Instead of speech function and Mood types, interpersonal meaning also contain about modality used by speaker to know how the speaker takes the position while speaking. In this study, the researcher is interested to know the speech function, mood types and modality of motivational speech. Motivational speech from Muniba Mazari was selected because the video has reached 25 millions viewers on English Speeches Youtube channel. Besides, even though she is difabel and must use a wheelchair for the rest of her life, she never gives up. In 2015, BBC declared that she belonged to one of inspirational women. The research problems of this study are (1) What speech function can be found in motivational speech on English Speech Youtube Channel by Muniba Mazari? (2) How are mood types realized in motivational speech on English Speech Youtube Channel by Muniba Mazari? (3) How is modality used in motivational speech on English Speech YouTube Channel by Muniba Mazari? The aims of the research are (1) To find the speech function in motivational speech on English Speech Youtube Channel by Muniba Mazari (2) To perceive the mood types realized in motivational speech on English Speech Youtube Channel by Muniba Mazari. (3) To find out the modality used in motivational speech on English Speech YouTube Channel by Muniba Mazari. The researcher uses qualitative descriptive as the method of this study because the data is presented in detailed by describing the speech function, Mood types, and modality in the speech. The research design of this study is library research with content analysis in which the researcher needs to identify the content of the speech which is related to the theory. The instrument used in this research is human instrument where the data are found, collected and analyzed by the researcher. The data is analyzed by doing some steps as follows (1) Researcher reads the subtitle of motivational speech which has been downloaded (2) The researcher analyzes the texts. In analyzing the texts, the researcher looks for the clauses which contain each speech function mentioned by Halliday (1985) and Eggins (1994) (3) The researcher analyzes the Mood types used in the clause for each speech function, (4) the researcher analyzes the modality by looking at Droga and Humphrey’s theory (5) the researcher summarizes the speech function, Mood types, and modality found in the speech and match them into theory. The result of this study shows that (1) Kinds of speech function found in Muniba Mazari’s speech are statement, question, command, offer, answer, acknowledgement, acceptamce, and compliance. Besides, the speech function statement appears the most of all which is 94%. (2) Mood types which are found in Muniba Mazari’s speech are declarative, interrogative, imperative, modulated interrogative mood, elliptical declarative mood, and minor clause. Declarative Mood appears the most of all the Mood types. (3) In Muniba Mazari’s speech, types of modality found in the speech are low modality, medium modality, and high modality. The most dominant one is medium modality with the total clause 42 clauses or 42%. It means that the speaker takes position during the speech in the middle politeness, neither low or high.
