The Effectiveness Of Using Realia As Teaching Media In Teaching Speaking At Eight Grade Of Mts Sunan Kalijogo Academic Year 2015/2016. Thesis. English Education Department. Faculty Of Tarbiyah Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN)of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Susanto, S.S, M.Pd. Keywords: speaking, speaking ability, realia, effective. Speaking is an activity of draw out idea in to sound. The aim of speaking is to make other people understand about the speaker idea. Speaking English as foreign language is difficult, because there are several aspect that must be noticed; intonation, pronunciation and grammar. Some of students also have difficulty in vocabulary. It happen because of the students does not accustom to speak English in their daily life. The teacher must attempt to make students can speak English as natural as possible. The most suitable teaching media that use natural approach is realia. Realia can give many advantages for students speaking ability. Students can touch and see it from many ways. The students can see realia from top, bottom, left and right. The research problems of this research were: 1) How is students’ speaking ability before being taught by using realia? 2) How is students’ speaking ability after being taught by using realia? 3) is there any significance difference between students score before and after being taught by using realia as teaching media in teaching speaking at eight grade of MTs Sunan Kalijogo Kalidawir academic year 2015/2016? The objectives of this research were: 1) Find out students’ speaking score before being taught by using realia. 2) Find out students’ speaking score after being taught by using realia. 3) to investigate significance difference between students score before and after being taught by using realia as teaching media in teaching speaking at eight grade of MTs Sunan Kalijogo Kalidawir academic year 2015/2016. Research method: 1) the research design in this study was experimental research design with quantitative approach, 2) the population of this study was all eight grader of MTs Sunan Kalijogo Kalidawir, 3) the sample was VIIIa class consisting of 31 students, 4) the research instrument was test, 5) the data analysis was using T-test.
