Keywords: correlation, watching English movie habit, speaking skill Media is something we use to help use communicate and gain information from each other. Media has strong impact in learning English skills. Due to the problem students face when learning a speaking skill, a teacher can suggest students to learn English more interestingly. Many media can be used for students to study independently or fun according to the tastes of each student. Movies become one of the media to learn speaking skills interestingly. English movie is one of the media that can be used to improve students’ speaking skill. Through the dialog of the casts of the English movie, students’ indirectly listen to a native when they speak in English. The movies along with the movies' scripts are widely used as a teaching method in English lessons; however, practice in class only is never enough. The purpose of this research is to determine whether there is a correlation between students’ habit of watching English movie and their speaking skill of the English education department students of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. This research uses a quantitative research method where the research design is a correlation. This research uses Spearman’s Rank Correlation analysis to determine whether there is a relationship between two variables. This research used simple random sampling to get the sample. The sample consists of 30 students from The English Education Department Students of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. To collect the data, on both variables, students were asked to fill out a questionnaire based on information related to their habit of watching English movies and take a speaking test to measure their speaking skills. The correlation calculation results that the significant value in this research was found to be 0.419 which is greater than the significance level (0.05). It is known that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted while the null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Thus, the results of this research state that there is a correlation between students’ habit of watching English movies and their speaking skills of The English Education Department Students of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. The correlation between students’ habit of watching English movies and their speaking skills of The English Education Department Students of UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung is moderate and has a positive direction of correlation. Based on the result of this research, watching English movies can be used as one of the great media to improve students’ speaking skills.
