Abstract
ABSTRACT Efika, Yenny Ima. Student Registered Number. 12851021020. 2023. “Using YouTube To Built Successful Teaching and Learning Activities”. English Education Department. Magister Program. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Tulungagung. Advisors: (1) Dr. Nursamsu, M.Pd, and (2) Dr. Erna Iftanti, M.Pd. Keywords: YouTube, successful teaching and learning Teaching and learning activities are very important in improving school quality and creating good learning activities. Currently learning English is mostly done online, one of the media used is YouTube that has many positive impacts and is an effective medium for teachers and students in building successful EFL teaching and learning activities. Indicators of learning success include skills from a business or training experience in the form of changes in behavior that contain knowledge (cognitive), skills (psychomotor), attitudes (affective) and constructive values (values). So, indicators of student learning success can be seen from the ability of students to absorb the teaching material that has been taught and from the actions or behavior that have been outlined in the learning objectives that have been achieved by students, both individually and in groups. This study used a qualitative research design, and was conducted at MI MISRIU Blitar from March 10-25, 2023 with research subjects of two teachers who had successfully taught English using YouTube. Researchers will discuss how YouTube is implemented to achieve successful English classes, the strengths and weaknesses of YouTube media, and ways to overcome these weaknesses. For this reason, researchers used a descriptive qualitative approach in explaining the discussion of research questions. The results of this study indicate that to achieve a successful class, YouTube is implemented by preparing classes by making structured lesson plans. The teacher uses various methodby playing YouTube which was made by the teacher himself and playing it at the beginning of the lesson by paying attention to the age-appropriate content of elementary school children with video functions according to the learning objectives. Students watch the video and work on the questions given by the teacher. In implementation, the teacher evaluates the use of methodand the effectiveness of existing lesson plans. They will improve the RPP if it is felt that the implementation has not been optimal. From these teaching and learning activities, the strengths of using YouTube media to achieve successful classes can be seen from the students who are very enthusiastic about learning, so that class conditioning is much easier. And the weaknesses of using YouTube were also found, among them is due to the content that really needs attention. A lot of content is not good for elementary school age children. Educational content is limited to relevant topics, and limited accuracy of the information shared. However, the teacher has a way to overcome students' difficulties in learning English by forming groups and providing stimulus to students who have learning difficulties.
