Pd., Keywords : Improve, Mind Mapping Technique, Reading Comprehension. Reading is one of the language skill that must be mastered by students at all level of education in Indonesia. Students in the tenth grade of SMKN 1 Bandung face several problems in the reading. The students can read but they don’t understand about the text and they feel bored when the learning process because the teacher’s method are monotonous. The teacher is needed more technique in the process of teaching and learning reading. For this reason, the researcher used Mind Mapping technique to overcome problems faced by students. By using this technique, the students were able to improve their reading comprehension in English subject. The formulation of the problem in this study is: “How can the implementation of Mind Mapping technique to improve students’reading comprehension in English subject at the tenth grade of SMKN 1 Bandung?”. And the purpose of this study is: to find out how to implementing mind mapping technique to improve students’ reading comprehension in English subject at the tenth grade of SMKN 1 Bandung? Research methods: 1) the design of the study was a model classroom action research from Kemmis and McTaggart (1988), (2) the research subject was the tenth grade of AK 1 SMKN 1 Bandung consisted 30 students, (3) this research was carried out in 2 cycles, each cycle consisted of 2 meetings. The research procedure of each cycle consists of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting, (4) the success criteria in this study are if 80% of students are able to get a score of ≥ 8 on the tests conducted, (5) the data collection method used tests. The result from the researcher conducted this study are there are 2 cycles, each cycle consist of 2 meetings. In cycle 1, the average score of students is 81. A total of 67% of students success the test and 33% failed the test. The success criteria have not been achieved in cycle 1 because the students who pass the test are less than 80% so cycle 2 needs to be implemented. In cycle 2, the average score of students is 94. A total of 94% of students success the test and 6% of students failed the test. The success criteria in cycle 2 have been achieved as more tham 80% of students success the test. So the study was stopped in cycle 2. Based on the results above, it can be concluded that the implementation of mind mapping technique was successful in research because it was able to improve students reading comprehension in English subject. So, in this study the implementing of mind mapping can improve students reading comprehension and the mind mapping technique can be used as an alternative technique in the learning process.
