Abstract

Thesis with the title “Application of the Problem Based Learning Model Based on Image Media for Mastering Mufradāt and Mahārah Kalām in Students of the Arabic Language and Literature Department, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Tulungagung” is written by Naja Alwi Mawardy guided by Prof. Dr. H. As‟aril Muhajir, M.Pd. dan Dr. Hj. Anin Nurhayati, M.Pd. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Image Media, Mufradāt and Mahārah Kalām, Students of the Arabic Language and Literature Department. Research in this thesis against the backdrop of a low ability to mahārah kalām on Students of the Arabic Language and Literature Department. This is proven by the absence of achievements or awards from the Arabic Language and Literature department in competitions related to mahārah kalām compared to Arabic Language and Literature departments at other universities. As students, it is important to develop the potential within them to explore their abilities and be able to solve problems. Apart from that, the role of educators here is no less important, by helping and motivating students majoring in Arabic Language and Literature in learning to speak Arabic. Considering the graduate profile, it is hoped that they will be able to become graduates who are proficient in mastering Arabic language skills. Formulation of the problem in the writing of this thesis are (1) How to plan a problem based learning model based on image media in mastering mufradāt and mahārah kalām in Students of the Arabic Language and Literature Department, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Tulungagung ?; (2) What are the steps for a problem based learning model based on image media in mastering mufradāt and mahārah kalām in Students of the Arabic Language and Literature Department, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Tulungagung ?; (3) How to evaluate problem based learning model based on image media in mastering mufradāt and mahārah kalām in Students of the Arabic Language and Literature Department, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Tulungagung ? This thesis is useful for lecturers to improve the quality of learning through workshops or other means and using learning principles also fully aware of the importance of planning and preparation in learning, as well as selecting a model or method to achieve a competency, one of which is the problem based learning model in mastering mufradāt and mahārah kalām. From these results, the authors conclude that: (1) Planning stage a problem based learning model based on image media in mastering mufradāt and mahārah kalām in Students of the Arabic Language and Literature Department, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Tulungagung through discussions between assigned lecturers via invitation in the WhatsApp group; (2) Process steps a problem based learning model based on image media in mastering mufradāt and mahārah kalām in the kalam course for 1st semester students through 5 stages. stage I, orienting students to the image problem presented, stage II organizing students to study, stage III guiding individual and group investigations, stage IV developing and presenting the results of the work, V analyzing and evaluating the problem solving process. The learning stages carried out correspond to the steps or stages in evaluating Arabic language learning based on the problem based learning model; (3) The evaluation process in Students of the Arabic Language and Literature Department, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Tulungagung is carried out directly and in stages. Lecturers measure and assess students' speaking abilities when students are carrying out group discussions and when playing roles. The assessment includes linguistic and non-linguistic aspects. Mahārah Kalām assessment in Students of the Arabic Language and Literature Department, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Tulungagung carried out in groups and individually.
