Abstract
In learning recount text, Senior High School students may face difficulties to master it. Many students feel confused what to write although they know the topic which have been given by the teacher. To increase learners’ motivation in Senior High School learners in mastering recount text, teacher have to play the important role. The conventional teaching method makes the students get bored and have low motivation. So, the researcher try to find the right media by using “diary”. Diary is a book used for a daily record of events, future appointment (Martin, 2000:119). One benefit of using diary is the students being able to look on specific days or time periods in an attempt to short out personal feelings. It means that the diary is an appropriate to teach recount text in Senior High School, because recount text also retell the past experience. The formulation of the research problem is : “How is the effectiveness of using recount text toward the students achievement in writing recount text at MAN Trenggalek in the academic year 2015/2016?. The purpose of this study was to find out the effectiveness of using recount text toward the students achievement in writing recount text at MAN Trenggalek in the academic year 2015/2016.
