Keywords: Podcast, Listening Skill, Recount Text. Listening skills is one of the subjects studied in the field of language study and in the discipline of conversation analysis. Students must understand the content of the text by listen, so that they get clear and detailed information and knowledge. There are several reasons that make many students difficult to mastery listening skill. The listening class is seldom conduct there, it make the student unfamiliar with listening and also unfamiliar with listening to the English native speaker. The students then also have a problem in the vocabulary. They confuse with the word in material that learn. The students have lack of vocabularies, so they do not understand what words they have heard from the teacher. Then the last, they had lack of opportunities to learn listening, so they were not familiar with listening. This research is attended to prove whether the Podcast is effective to improve students' listening skill especially in recount text. Thus, the purpose of this study is to improve the students listening skill in grade VIII F class in SMPN 1 Sumbergempol by using podcast. This study is class action research. The study consists of two cycles, from each cycle consisted of four stages namely: planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The subject of this study was second grade F class students of SMPN 1 Sumbergempol. During the research, the researcher acted as the teachers implementation of podcast and made reflection about what happened in cycle I. After that, if there was yet success, re planning the activities that were going to do in cycle II. The instruments used in this study were listening test, observation sheet, and interview transcript. The students learning process by using podcast first is, the researcher explain material, the students asked to listen podcast and doing the exercises, explain cooperative learning method, students are try to identify structure, the researcher motivate and giving easy trick to mastery listening.. The second is, the researcher explain material, the students asked to listen podcast and doing the exercises, explain gaming method, students are try to understand, and distinguish language, the researcher motivate and giving easy trick to mastery listening, The students asked to write down the difficulties. Based on finding of the research, it can be concluded that podcast can improve listening skill at the eighth grade student F class at SMPN 1 Sumbergempol.
