Abstract

Speaking is one of the essential elements in English language learning. Speaking is a productive skill that is closely related to all other language skills. Students can actively participate in class discussions, presentations, and other collaborative activities in speaking. To encourage students to participate more actively in speaking practice, as a teacher can use interesting media to make students more enthusiastic in learning to speak. Teacher can use YouTube media which contains interesting videos, one of which is the Johnny communication center vlog which can be used to improve students' speaking skills. The formulation of the research problem in this research is: “Is there any significant different scores on students speaking skills with and without using vlog from YouTube Johnny communication center at MTs PSM Jeli?”. The purpose of this research is “To find out the significant difference in the scores on students' speaking skill with and without using vlog from youtube Johnny communication center at MTs PSM Jeli.” The method used in this research is quasi-experiment using two classes, control class and experimental class with quantitative approach. The population used in this research were all seventh grade students at MTs PSM Jeli. The sample of this research involved two classes, namely VII A as the experimental group and VII B as the control group, each consisting of 31 students.The instruments used were pre-test and posttest. This research analyzed the data using the t-test. The results showed that the implementation of Johnny communication center youtube vlog is effective in teaching speaking skill for seven grades at MTs PSM Jeli. This can be seen from the post-test mean scores between students in the control group and students in the experimental group. The mean score of the experimental group was 79.97 and the mean score of the control group was 71.68. Furthermore, the results of the Independent Sample T-test show a significant value of 0.000. This means that the significance value is smaller than the significant level (0.000 <0.05). From the results of the significance value it can be said that the Null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference in students' speaking skills with and without being taught using Johnny communication center youtube vlog at MTs PSM Jeli.
