Abstract

People naturally acquire socio language skills in communication, but it does not mean that learning pragmatic is not importance. Pragmatic includes what to say, how to say it, body language and respond given in different situation. When people communicate, speech act plays an importance role in giving message for the hearer. One speech act functions to express feeling called expressive act. It is known that function Expressive act is speech act that express people’s feeling. As asserted in book, there many types of expressive acts like thanking, opining, congratulating, greeting, apologizing but there are more possibilities of expressive acts function that can be issued like express love, anger, or happy that feels to be more expressive. In expressing love, people sometimes attract sexual interest of opposite gender. The act of attract sexual interest is called flirting. The researcher is interest in expanding expressive acts that has intends meaning as flirting. The researcher used referring expression to differentiate expressive which has direct meaning and indirect meaning. Fifty Shades of Grey movie script select as subject of study because this movie genre is love, romance, and socio drama. To find flirting in scripts of a movie, the researcher needs a method to analyze text and words and its concept (expressive act), so content analysis is the best method. By using content analysis, the researcher could find the actual message of expressive act expressed by the protagonists and how it has intends meaning as flirting. Then, the result of this research can enrich the study of pragmatic and how flirting be a part of expressive acts.
