Vocabulary is one of important aspects in learning English. If the students have weaknesses in vocabulary, they will be difficult to communicate and convey message to interlocutors. The students with lack of vocabulary will difficult to understand the oral and written language, because vocabulary is a basic component in learning English. One of media that can be used in teaching vocabulary is Word Wall media. It is collection of words which are displayed in large visible letters on a wall, bulletin board, or other display surface in classroom. It is one of media that will help teacher to teach vocabulary easily. The word wall as visible and concrete tools to facilitate discussions and expand students’ use of targeted words. There are three research problems formulated in this research. Firstly, how is the students’ mastery on vocabulary before being taught by using word wall? Secondly, how is the students’ mastery on vocabulary after being taught by using word wall? The last, is there any significant difference between students’ vocabulary mastery who are taught through word wall media and students’ who are taught without using word wall media? Related to the research problems stated above, the purpose of this research were to know the students’ mastery on vocabulary before being taught by using word wall, to know the students’ mastery on vocabulary after being taught by using word wall, and to know the significant difference between students’ vocabulary mastery who are taught through word wall media and students’ who are taught without using word wall media. The research design in this research is quasi-experimental using quantitative approach. Moreover, the population of this research was all students of seventh grade students at MTs N Tunggangri and the sample was VII E class consisting of 40 students as the experimental group and VII F class consisting of 42 students as the control group. In addition, the research instrument was test, pretest and posttest. And the data analysis was using Independent sample T test of SPSS 20.0 The result of the independent samples test show that the t0 is 2.401, and the ttable of df 80 and in significant level 5% is 1.990. Thus, 2.401 > 1.990 or t0 > ttable. So, the Null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. It means there is a significant difference of students’ vocabulary mastery between students who are taught through word wall media and students who are taught without using word wall media. Therefore, word wall media can be used as alternative media to teach vocabulary to the students at MTs Level.
