Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of listening skill in English learning in Indonesia. At MAN 2 Jombang, the animated movie “Luca” is used as a medium to improve students' listening skills. The urgency of this study lies in the challenges students face in understanding engaging listening media. The purpose of this study is to explore students' perceptions of the use of the movie "Luca" in improving English listening skills. This research focuses on perception theory, where students' views on learning media greatly affect their learning outcomes. The research method used a quantitative descriptive design with questionnaires distributed to 32 students o f class XA at MAN 2 Jombang. The questionnaire was designed to measure interest, motivation, and listening comprehension. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that students had a positive perception of the movie “Luca” as a tool in improving listening skills. The average interest and motivation score reached 4.14, indicating that students found the movie interesting and motivating. In addition, the film helped students understand English dialog better, with an average score of 3.88 for listening comprehension. These results confirm the potential value of integrating audiovisual media in English language learning.
