Abstract

Keywords: English book, Authentic Material, Accounting Program One type of the essential tools in English language classroom is book. Book contains of certain material that helps students to develop and increase their competency through teaching learning process. The formulation of research problem of this research is: What is teacher’s and student’s English book that is appropriate to be applied in second grade of accounting program in vocational high school? The purpose of this research is to know the kinds of teacher’s and student’s English book that appropriate to apply in second grade of accounting program in vocational high school. The Research Method applied in this research is: 1) Research and Development by modifying ADDIE model, 2) The subject of the tri-out of this research is selected by using purposive sampling, the subject of try-out is one class of second grade accounting program (2AK2) at SMKN 1 Boyolangu consisting of 40 students , 3) the research instruments are validity sheets, Document, Questionnaire, Interview guide, 4) the data analysis is changing data that taken from validation sheet and questionnaire into percentage, then categorize the data, and interpreting data descriptively. This research found teacher’s and student’s book using authentic material that have been developed was proper to apply in second grade of accounting program based on the result of validation sheet for teacher book which is 82.03% placing it in “very proper” quality criteria and 80.17% for student’s book placing in “proper” quality criteria. The result of validation sheet also support with the result of questionnaire that the percentage of all items in four aspects, presentation, language properness, content, and the effect of the media, stated in “good” criteria with percentage criteria in 61%-80% except for the question number 1and 2 that have percentage criteria in 90% and 95% categorized in “very good” criteria.
