Keywords: pragmatics, expressive act, expressive strategy Conversation always used by the people to communicate with each other. The people want their communicate can be perfect and appropriate with the purpose of communication. They also have certain wishes or desire behind their utterances, when they deliver their words or sentences. It results of why we learn about pragmatic and the branches. Pragmatics is one of linguistic branches. It focuses in study of the meaning since it puts on the speaker intention. It focuses on the producer of the message, which involves the process of interpreting by the hearer. To know more about utterances that are used in how to express the feeling, the researcher try to find out the utterance in Legend of the Guardians: the Owls of Ga’Hoole movie script. When viewed and carefully understood in this movie there are many interesting things, especially on the conversation of the characters used in expressing their expressions so that poured in the story well and smoothly. This reason make the researcher decide use the move script to the research. The researcher have problems, those are : (1) What types of expressive speech acts are found in conversational fragments in the movie entitled “Legend of The Guardian: The Owls of Ga’Hoole”? (2) How are the frequency of types of expressive speech acts found in conversational fragments in the movie entitled “Legend of The Guardian: The Owls of Ga’Hoole”? Expression performed via utterances are generally called speech acts and, in English, are commonly given more specific labels, such as pleasure, pain, likes, dislikes, or sad. An expressive act is kind of speech act that state what the speaker feels. The aim of the research is to know what types of expressive acts are found of the expressive strategy as employed in the conversations occurring in Legend of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole movie by Kathryn Lasky along with their frequency each types. This research applied quantitative approach because the researcher analyzed types of expressive act and counted the frequency of the expressive act found in conversational fragments of Legend of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole movie. The study found (1) there were 28 of pleasure utterance, 13 of pain utterances, 37 of likes utterances, 68 of dislikes utterances, 33 of joy utterances, and 35 of sorrow utterances. (2) The frequency of each type of expressive strategy 13,08% for pleasure utterances, 6,07% for pain utterances, 17,28% for likes utterances, 31,77% for dislikes utterances, 15,42% for joy utterances, 16,35% for sorrow utterances. Based on the result of the study, the researcher wants to give suggestion for the students and future researcher. The students can how to express expressive speech acts appropriately, in according to how situation and taste are expressed. For the future researcher can develop their knowledge about the speech act. So, people interest to learn deeply and clearly about speech acts.
