Teacher And Learners’ Talk In The Classroom Interaction At Tenth Grade Students Of SMA Jawahirul Hikmah Tulungagung In Academic Year 2014/2015. Sarjana Thesis. English Education Department. Keywords: Teacher Talk, Learner Talk, Classroom Interaction Interaction is one of important point in teaching learning process, because interaction is a collaborative exchange of thought, feeling or ideas between two or more people. Especially in the classroom, the aspects of interaction involves the teacher talk and the learner talk. Both the teacher and learner interaction give result on the reciprocal effect to each other. By implementing good interaction during the process of teaching learning is meaningful to support students’ participation. Moreover, classroom interaction can stimulate the student to speak because it is useful in stimulating the student to think, understand and to give respond to the given stimulation. Thus the classroom interaction is the main point successful in teaching learning process. The formulation of research problems were: 1) How do the teacher and learners conduct interaction in the classroom? 2) What are the aspects of interaction in the classroom? 3) What patterns of interaction occur during in the teaching - learning process? The purpose of this study were: 1) To describe how the teacher and learners conduct interaction in the classroom 2) To identify the aspects of interaction in the classroom 3) To investigate the patterns of interaction occur during in the teaching – learning process. Research Method: 1) the research design in this study was descriptive design with qualitative approach, 2) the data source of this research were the English teachers who teach Tenth grade female students of Jawahirul Hikmah Senior High School and the female students of X grade that include X-1 and X-2 students, 3) the technique of data collection of this research were doing observation and conducting interview. The researcher found the interaction between teacher and learner absolutely interactive, they used two ways of communication and some approach of teaching covering: GTM, audio lingual, TPR and Communicative Approach. The aspects of interaction in the classroom based on FLINT showed that they employed 9 categories of teacher talks and 6 categories of learner talks. Meanwhile, the findings related to the patterns of classroom interaction was student – students’ interaction, teacher – whole class interaction, teacher – whole group interaction, and teacher – individual students’ interaction.
