Abstract

Student’s attitude towards learning plays an important role in motivating them to learn a lesson. If a students has good attitude towards the lesson it will make them more cinfident about the lessoon and it will increase the learning achievement. This background made the researcher want to know about the correlation betwen students’ attitude and their English achievement at MTs Sultan Agung Jabalsari. The research question in this study wes “ Is there any correlation between students’ attitude and their English achievement at MTs Sultan Agung Jabalsari?”. And the objectives of this research was to find out the correlation between students’ attitude and their English achievement at MTs Sultan Agung Jabalsari. This research was a quantitative correlational research design. This research was conducted at MTs Sultan Agung Jabalsari. The population of this research was all the first garde students of MTs Sultan Agung Jabalsari with the total of 22 students. Total sampling technique was used in this reaserch so the smaple is all members of the popultion. The data of this research was obtained by questionnaire and document analysis method. The researcher used validity, reliability, and normality test to analyse the data. The Pearson Correlation Product Moment was used to test the hypothesis of this research. All of the test were computed using SPSS 23 for Windows. From the data analysis it showed that the significance value of the Pearson Correlation Product Moment was 0.00 < 0,05 it indicated that there is correlation between students’ attitude and their English achievement at MTs Sultan Agung Jabalsari. And also from the tests the researcher found that the correlation coefficient was 0,726 which means that the students’ attitude and their English achievement are highly correlated.
