Abstract
ABSTRACT Intan Ayuning Tyas, NIM. (12203173115). Professional Development of English Teachers During The Covid 19 Pandemic at SMAN 1 Gondang Tulungagung, Department of English Language Education (TBI), Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Tulungagung 2021 Advisor: Nany Soengkono Madayani, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords:Teacher Professional Development, Difficulties in Teacher Professional Development This writing is motivated by a phenomenon that during the Covid 19 pandemic, many teachers did all the activities recommended by the government online. However, the English teacher at SMAN 1 Gondang Tulungagung has been accustomed to routinely carrying out trainings even before the Covid 19 pandemic. Prior to the Covid 19 pandemic, they routinely participated in MGMP activities once a month or even once a week, and during the Covid 19 pandemic they also attended training Webinars recommended by the government. However, in practice there are some difficulties or obstacles that occur. The research questions : (1) How did the English teacher of SMAN 1 Gondang Tulungagung develop their professionalism before and during the Covid19 pandemic? (2) What are the difficulties of the English teacher at SMAN 1 Gondang Tulungagung in developing their professionalism before and during the Covid 19 pandemic? The purpose of this study was to find out how English teachers developed their professionalism before and during the Covid 19 pandemic, and also to find out what obstacles/difficulties were experienced by an English educator in improving their professionalism before and during the Covid 19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative research approach with a descriptive type of research. The research was conducted at SMAN 1 Gondang Tulungagung. In collecting data the researchers used interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses an interactive model from Miles and Hubarman in the form of: data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions. The results of this study are as follows: (1) Professional development of English teachers before and during the Covid 19 pandemic at SMAN 1 Gondang Tulungagung. (a) Before the Covid 19 pandemic developed professionalism by participating in MGMP training. (b) During the Covid 19 pandemic, develop professionalism by participating in Webinar training. (2) The difficulties faced by English teachers in developing their professionalism before and during the Covid 19 pandemic at SMAN 1 Gondang Tulungagung. (a) Prior to the Covid 19 pandemic, the difficulties faced by English teachers in developing their professionalism were Time, Distance, Facilities and Infrastructure, Finance. (b) During the Covid-19 pandemic, the difficulties faced by English teachers in developing their professionalism were networks and time constraints.
