Abstract

ABSTRACT Elwachidah, Faricha. Registered Number 12203173091. The Effectiveness of Using Sugoroku English on Students’ Vocabulary Mastery of Eleventh Grade at MA Darul Hikmah Mojokerto. IAIN Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Erna Iftanti, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: The Effectiveness, Sugoroku This study is onducted to investigate the effectiveness of using Sugoroku English in increasing students’ vocabulary mastery or another purposed to get an empirical effect of Sugoroku English to the increasing of students’ vocabulary mastery. The research design in this study was quasi experimental design with quantitative approach. The population of this study is the eleventh grade of students at MA Darul Hikmah Mojokerto. The samples involve XI IPS 1 consist 30 students as the control class and XI IPS 2 consist 30 students as the experiment class.this research used 10 questions crossword as the instrument in both experimental and controlled group for pre-test and post-test with 30 minutes as the time allocation. The researcher used T-test formula through SPSS 22.0 as the technique of data analysis.the finding showed that the mean achievement of experimental class was higher than the mean achievement of the control class. The mean achievement of experimental class was (70,33) and (80,33) for the mean of the control group. The t-test was accumulated that T= (5.581). with the df = (58), and the p-value (two tailed) was (0,000) which is lower than 0,05(0,000 < 0.05) . After looking at the result of t-test can be concluded that the null hypothesis rejected while the alternative hypothesis is accepted. It can be assumed that there is a significance difference score in vocabulary mastery between the students taught by using Sugoroku English and those taught without using Sugoroku English. It concludes that the use of Sugoroku English can give a positive effect in improving students’ vocabulary mastery at MA Darul Hikmah Mojokerto in academic 2020/2021.
