Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung, Advisor: Dr. Erna Iftanti, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Teaching Strategy, Muslim Wittaya Phuket School The teaching and learning strategy is a very important component in teaching. Teaching strategies are procedures used by the teacher which serve as a way of reaching a goal. The researcher got chance to conduct research in Phuket, Thailand. Furthermore, the only one Islamic based school in Phuket is Muslim Wittaya Phuket School. So, the writer would like to know about strategies used by teachers because as English teachers, they need to know the appropriate strategies implemented in their teaching practice. So they can produce qualified students with good English ability. This research was designed to focus on teaching strategy. Then, the researcher formulated the research question as follows: What strategies are used by the English teachers in teaching English at Muslim Wittaya Phuket School? Furthermore, the objective of this research was to describe teaching strategies used by English teachers in teaching English at Muslim Wittaya Phuket School. This research design of this research used descriptive design with Qualitative approach. Data source of this research is the Thai English teachers who teach junior and senior high school at Muslim Wittaya Phuket School. The techniques of data collection of this research are observation and interview. As the result, the researcher found four kinds of teaching strategies generally used by English teachers at Muslim Wittaya Phuket, those were direct teaching, mastery learning, cooperative learning and also problem based learning. It is exactly same type which is recognized on Kindsvatter (1996) and Sadker (2005). So, this finding can answer the research question and strengthen the existed theory. So, the results of this research can confirm the theories from experts. Based on that conclusion, the researcher suggests to (1) The teacher must use suitable strategies in teaching them to help her students to support their student’ learning in order to become successful language learners. The teacher can also combine the teaching strategies for better outcome and (2) For other researchers who want to conduct a research about teaching strategy, they can focus to conduct research on the selected skill about his teaching strategy.
