Abstract

Learning is an activity where there is a process of teaching, guiding, training, setting examples, and organizing and facilitating various things for students to get used to learning so that educational goals are achieved. In the process of learning English, a student must have encountered problems in learning. The problem includes a variety of certain factors. This can cause student learning outcomes to be less than optimal. This research was conducted with the aim of finding and analyzing the problems faced by students during English language learning conducted at MTs Bustanul Ulum. The focus of this study is: (1) What are the students’ problems in learning English at MTs Bustanul Ulum Lamongan, (2) What are the factors of students’ problems in learning English at MTs Bustanul Ulum Lamongan, (3) What are the solutions of students’ problems in learning English at MTs Bustanul Ulum Lamongan. This study aims to: (1) To know the students’ problems in learning English at MTs Bustanul Ulum Lamongan, (2) To know the factors of students’ problems in learning English at MTs Bustanul Ulum Lamongan, (3) To know the solutions of students’ problems in learning English at Bustanul Ulum Lamongan. The research method used is the Qualitative Descriptive Method. The subjects of the study were students and teachers of grades 7 and 8 students who have problems in learning English at MTs Bustanul Ulum Lamongan. The Data Sources used are Informants, Places and Events at MTs Bustanul Ulum Lamongan. The data collection techniques used are Interview and Observation. Data analysis in this study is data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study are: (1) Students’ problems in learning English at MTs Bustanul Ulum Lamongan are about pronunciation, problem in memorization, problem in concentrating, problems in understanding the material. (2) The factors that cause students’ problems in learning English at MTs Bustanul Ulum Lamongan are internal and external factors. Such as motivation, self-confidence, attitude, feeling, teacher, and also learning aids student social environment in school, (3) The solution of students’ problems in learning english at MTs Bustanul Ulum Lamongan in addressing the problem of learning English is give the task of memorizing vocabulary, reexplaining the material, and conducting evaluations to students.
