ABSTRACT Buldan, Devani Amanda Artamefya. 2023. Registered Number, 12203193002. Language Features Error on Student’s Writing Recount Text at VIII Grade Student of MTs Sultan Agung Jabalsari. Thesis. English Education Department. State Islamic University (UIN) of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Nurul Chojimah, M.Pd Keywords: Language Features Error, Writing, Recount Text This study was carried out to find empirical evidence of the kind or type of language feature errors and the fact whether all of those language features error determine the sentences' meaning in recount text writing made by the eighth-grade students of MTs Sultan Agung Jabalsari, it was motivated by student’s lack ability in writing recount text and their lack of understanding of the language features in a text. The approach used in this study was qualitative research with a descriptive analysis design. The data was presented in a descriptive analysis using error analysis based on Betty Schrampfer Azar’s theory. And for collecting the data the researcher used documentation in the form of student’s sheets of paper of recount text. The result of the study showed that there are 14 classifications or types of language features error found in students' writing recount text. Based on the total of those 14 result types of the whole errors, the researcher found there were not all of the language features errors could determine the sentence meaning, hence its found 7 language features error namely word order, the addition of a word, spelling, runon sentences, omission words, unclear meaning, and incomplete sentences were determine the sentence meaning changes in student’s writing recount text because of 6 source error components which found inside. After the researcher completes the research and analyzes the student's text, the researcher can conclude that students still make a lot of language features error while writing recount text because of the lack of students understanding in recognizing the types of language features that should be understood and used correctly before writing recount text. The researcher also wants to give suggestions for eighth-grade students of MTs Sultan Agung Jabalsari related to the result of the research, such as having some writing stimulation by doing extra exercises to practice writing, for honing and improving their writing skills so that it can better than now.
