Abstract

Strategy in teaching speaking Englih is important thing because this is one of the factor that influence the students’ learning. Without strategy, the students will feel bored during learning process. Beside that, the way the teachers teach speaking, the strategy, and their technique used in teaching speaking English will influence the students’ speaking ability. The puposes of this study are, to know the teachers’ strategies in teaching speaking English, to know how the teaching strategies used to teach speaking English, and to know the implication of implementing the teaching strategies towards the students’ speaking skill. This research was conducted at Gazebo English Course Trenggalek. This research used qualitative method with case study approach. Interview and observation were the instruuments in collecting the data. In this research, the participants werer 3 teachers at Gazebo English Course Trenggalek. The result of this study showed that there were several strategies used by the teachers at Gazebo English Course such as, lecturing, dialogue, games, role play, giving feedback, asking vocabularies, forcing, describing picture, discussion, recording, giving reward, giving interesting theme, giving motivation, observing, and using media. For the using of the strategy, there were several strategies that same with the theory while there was strategy that modified to make it related to the material. For the implication of the strategies, there was enchantement on the students’ speaking skill from did not want to talk become tried to talk and increasing students’ courage to speak English. The last, the implication was based on the students in that class. If the students are unified, they will get the good result fastly while for the heterogeneous with low level class, they will still get a good result but not as good as the unified.
