Abstract
Key Word: IQ, Students’ achievement Research in this thesis is motivated a phenomenon intelligence quotient (IQ) that may effect the English learning achievement students of X in MAN Tulungagung 1. In this case the researcher correlate and see the contribution of effect given intelligence quotient (IQ) on the English learning achievement. Formulation of the problem in this thesis is there any correlation between Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Students’ English Learning achievement in MAN Tulungagung 1 at the first grade in Academic Year 2013/2014? The purpose of this study in accordance with the formulation of the problem is to know whether there is any significant correlation between intelligence Quotient (IQ) and students’ English Learning achievement in MAN Tulungagung 1 at the first grade in Academic Year 2013/2014 The research design is correlation design using quantitative approach. The population of this study is all of first grade students’ of MAN Tulungagung 1. The sample is X Science 1 class consisting 29 students. The research instrument is test. The technique of data analysis is Product Moment Correlation technique or Person’s Correlation Product Moment technique.. Product Moment Correlation technique or Person’s Correlation Product Moment technique is used to know whether Ha is accepted or rejected. The result shows that the total of students’ score with Product Moment Person formula, is obtained that the value of “r” product moment (rxy) or “r” observation (ro) is 0.778. Its means that Ha is accepted which there is which any significant correlation between intelligence Quotient (IQ) and students’ English Learning achievement in MAN Tulungagung 1 at the first grade in Academic Year 2013/2014 and Ho is rejected. In this case, there positive correlation which means that if students have a high IQ, they will high achievement in English and the vice versa of it. This thesis is beneficial to the teacher, the result is expected to useful for English teachers in improving their teaching capacity to improve their students’ achievement, The English teacher should use varied techniques to fulfill many kinds of varied students’ learning style and also IQ score must be reason of teacher in learning process . To the headmaster, the result of this research is expect to useful input for headmaster to support teaching learning activity by improving and developing the quality of education in the school, in order that students’ are motivated and interested in learning English. achievement, the teacher, parents, and the students’ have still to do activities that can improve students’ IQ score like ply game, read more, eat nutritious food, etc.
