Abstract

In today's globalized world, learning English has become more important than ever. Technology has also become widely used in language learning, with many students utilizing English learning apps to enhance their skills. The usage of these apps among students in the English Education Department has grown significantly in recent years. Therefore, it is essential to measure users’ perceptions and satisfaction with these apps among students to understand their effectiveness and address any needed improvements. This study focuses on the perceptions of fourth-semester students at Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung State Islamic University regarding the use of English language learning apps. The research problem of this study is how students perceive the use of English learning apps regarding learning English. To know the students' point of view after they have experienced using English learning apps in learning English. The approach of this study was quantitative approaches with a survey research type. The data collection technique was a questionnaire. The population of this study was 205 students of the English Education Department of State Islamic University Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. The sampling used purposive sampling to obtain 60 students who was fit the criteria. The results of this study indicate a strong positive perception among students regarding to the use of English learning apps based on the TAM theory by Davis (1989). The first indicator shows that students perceived very positively the efficiency of English learning apps was indicated by the total mean of this indicator of 4,406. The second indicator students perceived positively to the English learning apps design was indicated by the total mean of 4,14. The third indicator shows that students perceived positively English learning apps’ features was indicated by the total mean of 4,193. The fourth indicator shows that students perceived positively improving English skills using English learning apps was indicated by the total mean of 4,228. The last indicator shows that students perceived positively the advantages of English learning apps was indicated by the total mean of 4,185.
