Keywords : Memorizing Vocabulary, Improving Speaking Skills, Strategy The research in this the sis was motivated by the existence of an achievement student in MTsN 10 Blitar, namely M. Isqida Baiturrahman who had good vocabulary memorization and speaking skills and often participated in English speech competitions and had won 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place , however, the environmental condition of these prestigious students is that the school and their families do not support their abilities where the school is very minimal facilities even each teaching activity of English teachers only uses material and ass ignments there are no interesting games, significant listening exercises, reading, writing. And in his family environment no one understands English . For this reason, Researcher wanted to examine an achievement student at MTsN 10 Blitar to find out how he could memorize his vocabulary and speaking skills well, even often in speech competitions, his strategy was what he was memorize vocabulary and improve his speaking skills what he used. Research in this thesis aims 1) to find out the strategies of an achi evement student in memorizing vocabulary, and 2) to find out the strategies of an achievement student in improving speaking skills. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research using phenomenological and naturalistic approaches. The research subjects are prestigious students in MTsN 10 Blitar. Data collection techniques are carried out using in depth interviews, observations and documentation. Furthermore, the data is analyzed using data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The resul ts showed that: 1) there are 8 strategies for an achieved student in memorizing vocabulary, namely use visual learning styles, love listening to music, podcasts, conversations, and watching movies, memorize vocabulary in a quiet place to improve focus, pre fer direct memorization with little note taking or writing, sometimes use different ways when discovering everyone's new vocabulary, feeling or confiding in others when they have memorized vocabulary or reached the target of memorizing vocabulary, ask peop le for advice on memorizing vocabulary, and have a suitable or comfortable time when memorizing vocabulary with others. 2) There are 6 strategies for an achievement student in improving speaking skills, namely practicing speech skills in a quiet place, pre fer to practice speech skills independently and occasionally trying to be with others, imagining speaking English like a native speaker, sharing feelings or vent about the practice of speaking skills with others, ask others for advice on speaking practices , and take a suitable and comfortable time to practice the ability to talk to others.
