Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Arina Shofiya, M.Pd. Keyword : The Implementation , Mind Mapping , Teaching Reading The researcher chooses this title because it asks whether anyone still uses media or techniques such as mind mapping, because mind mapping is usually only used in certain schools; not all schools use mind mapping. Now, many schools are using more advanced technology. But here, the researcher wants to know more about the use of mind mapping or how to apply mind mapping to learning to read in English lessons. The reason of the researcher chooses this school is because it still uses mind-mapping media to make it easier for students to learn and to develop their creativity. The Focus of the study are 1) How is the teacher preparation in teaching reading at SMKN 1 Kras Kediri?, 2) What are the students’ activities in teaching reading at SMKN 1 Kras Kediri?, 3) What is the assessment of the teaching reading by using in mind mapping? The process of designing qualitative methods is to dig up informationabout how to apply mind mapping in learning to read. Apart from that, theresearcher described and obtained information about the role in learning toread. The researcher concluded that in a case of conducting research, theresearcherneedsdata toanswerthe researchquestion. From the result After the researcher conducted interviews, researcher found that the preparation of teachers in learning to read is that they use mind mapping to make it easier for them to convey the subject matter to be taught.students' activities in learning to read in class required them to read the entire text to get complete information from the reading, because if they did not read completely, they did not find the information they were looking for. It is applied by teachers to train them to read and to improve their thoroughness in finding information in readings. reading learning using mind mapping is by reviewing the material they have taught then they will give questions to their students, if the students can answer the questions they will give additional value, but if someone cannot answer the question they will explain the material again. The conclusion from this study is teachers in learning to read is that use mind mapping, the students’ activities in learning to read in class and the students can answer the questions they will give additional value, but if someone cannot answer the question they will explain the material again.
