Abstract
Vocabulary is one of the key elements in learning English. However, students often face challenges in mastering new vocabulary. Students with limited vocabulary will have difficulty in understanding the subject matter at school. They become less interested and less motivated in studying English as a result. Therefore, in this modern era, English teachers can use innovative and interesting media, such as Quizizz, to make the learning process more interesting and fun. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Sumbergempol. This research investigates if there is any significant difference in scores of students at Eighth Grade of SMPN 2 Sumbergempol who are taught with the interactive Quizziz and without the interactive Quizizz towards their Vocabulary Mastery. The purpose of this research is to measure the effectiveness of Quizizz on students' vocabulary mastery. The research method used is quasi-experimental research using two groups, an experimental group and a control group with a quantitative approach. The population of this research were eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Sumbergempol with a sample size of 29 students in the experimental class and 28 students in the control class. The data collection technique used pre-test and post-test. The method of data analysis used comparative analysis in the form of an Independent T-test by using IBM SPSS version 26 for Windows. The results showed that a Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.001 less than 0.05. Based on data analysis and hypotheses, the calculation results show that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. This shows that there is a significant improvement in students' vocabulary mastery. It can be concluded that Quizizz can improve the vocabulary mastery of eighth-grade students at SMPN 2 Sumbergempol. It is suggested that teachers use this media while teaching to support students who struggle with vocabulary mastering in English learning.
