Abstract

ABSTRACT Thesis entitled “Maharatul Kalam Learning by Using Communicative Approach (Multisite Studies in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage Kunir Wonodadi Blitar and Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage Baruharjo Durenan Trenggalek)” written by Ni’matul Khoiriyyah, 1754154025, 2017, Postgraduated Program, Arabic Education Department, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung, Advisors: Dr. H. Kojin, MA and Dr. LukLuk Nur Mufidah, M.Pd.I. Key words: Maharatul Kalam Learning, Communicative Approach This research is be based on the Maharatul Kalam Learning phenomenon. Maharatul Kalam Learning should be in comfortable and enjoyable situation. The result of some researches explained that the competences in using language as a medium of communication is one of the principal basis toward individual success in their real life. But in the fact, Maharatul Kalam Learning nowadays is still depend on teacher’s instruction, and the teacher did not give a chance to the students to be active in learning process, so they cannot communicate using Arabic language yet. The success of this learning can be influenced by several factors, one of them is by choosing the appropriate language learning approach so the learning process can be effective. The communicative approach is one of the approaches which is appropriate in Maharatul Kalamlearning. This study is to describe Maharatul Kalam learning by using communicative approach in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage and Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage. The focus of the research in this study were: 1) How is the application of Maharatul Kalamlearning by Using Communicative Approach in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage and Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage?2) How is the characteristics of Maharatul Kalamlearning by Using Communicative Approach in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage and Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage? 3) What are the problems in applying Maharatul Kalamlearning by Using Communicative Approach in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage and Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage and how are the efforts to solve the problems itself? The objectives of this study were: 1) To describe the application of Maharatul Kalamlearning by Using Communicative Approach in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage and Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage.2) To describe the characteristic of Maharatul Kalamlearning by Using Communicative Approach in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage and Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage. 3) To describe the problems in applying Maharatul Kalamlearning by Using Communicative Approach in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage and Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage and the efforts to solve the problems itself. This research was using descriptive qualitative as research method. The data collection methods was using participation observation, deep interviews, and also documentation. The methods to analyze the data was by using data reduction, data display, and data verification also conclusion drawing, then analyzing across the sites. To verify the validity of the data was by using triangulation methods. The result of this research showed that: 1) The application of Maharatul Kalam learning By Using Communicative Approach in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage and Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage: a) the learning process started by giving spirit, reviews, b) then giving them new subject to be learned, c) giving them freedom to express their thoughts and feeling, d) then finished by giving some motivation. The supporting activities used to support the Maharatul KalamLearninginAl-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottageare: a) mahkamah lughah,b) language enchantment (pesona bahasa), c) language decree (penetapan bahasa), d) comperative study, e) planning to make language club. In Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage: a) weekly muhadharah, b) mahkamah lughah, c) miss language competition every last year. The specific examination of Maharatul Kalam Study is in the form of Muhadatsah (conversation) or Ta’bir. The examination in Al-Kamal is in the form of conversation and promotion of product, in Anwarul Haromain is in the form of muhadatsah or story telling.2) The characteristic of Maharatul Kalamlearning by Using Communicative Approach in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage and Anwarul Haromain Boarding Cottage: a) the purpose of Maharatul Kalamlearning is to make students can use Arabic language as the daily language communication. b) The principle of the study is step by step, c) giving students chances to expressing their thoughts, d) make students feel comfortable in learning process, e)the subject given be based on the communication needed, f)language environment is developed by certain rules and several punishments be based on the doer. f) the language commutation in Al-kamal is every 2 weeks, in Anwarul Haromain is every week. 3) The problems of Maharatul Kalam Study By Using Communicative Approach in Al-Kamal Integrated Boarding Cottage are a)less of language learning discipline from some teachers, b) some of students are using the wrong diction in speaking, c) some of students are sleepy in morning language learning. The efforts to solve those problems are: improving the commitment and dicipline in language program between teachers and students, make students feel comfotable in learning process, the mistakes in grammatical aspect is something can be tolerated in understanding the Maharatul Kalam study, because Maharatul Kalam study are improving the habituation and learning kalam. However, language teacher should give advice toward the students in the right time. And the problems of Maharatul Kalam learning in Al-Anwar Boarding Cottage are a) less of language learning disciplinein applying the rules of language, and less of students awareness in using language, b) feeling ashamed in expressing the idea, and afraid to make mistakes in grammatical aspect.The efforts to solve those problems areimproving the commitment and dicipline in applying the rules of language program and by improving the habituation to have a high self-confidence by giving motivation
