Abstract

Karisma, Novinda Putri. NIM 126203212119. 2025. The Correlation Towards Note-taking Habit and Vocabulary Mastery Among Students of English Education Department. Thesis. English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic University of Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Advisor: Lailatul Nikmah, M.Pd. Keywords: Note-taking Habit, Vocabulary Mastery, Correlation Vocabulary is one of the essential components in mastering a language. To help students retain and produce vocabulary more effectively, note-taking is considered a useful learning habit. However, not all students utilize note-taking consistently, which may affecy their vocabulary mastery. This research aimed to find out the correlation between students’ note-taking habir and their vocabulary mastery among the 2nd semester students’ of English Education Department at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah of Tulungagung. The variables of this research were students’ note-taking habit as the indepent variable (X) and students’ vocabulary mastery as the dependent variable (Y). This research used a quantitative method with a correlational research design. The data were collected using a questionnaire to measure students’ note-taking habit and a vocabulary test to assess their vocabulary mastery. The sample was taken using purposive sampling, involving 32 students from the 2nd semester. The data were analyzed using Pearson Product-Moment Correlation assisted by SPSS 25. The result showed a correlation coefficient of r = 0.206 at significouldce level of p = 0.258. Based on the correlation interpretation, the relationship between the two variales was categorized as low correlation. Since the significouldce level was greater than 0.05, it could be concluded that the null hypothesis (H0) is not rejected. Thus, there was no significouldt correlation towards note-taking habit and vocabulary mastery among 2nd semester students’ of English Education Department.
