Keywords: Bilingual Class, Teaching Strategies, Challenges The existence of bilingual classes has become one of the main alternatives in modern education systems, particularly in English language teaching. Teaching strategies in bilingual English classrooms need to be adjusted to the students’ cognitive development levels to ensure that the material is more easily understood and the learning process becomes more enjoyable. However, the implementation of teaching strategies also faces various challenges. Therefore, teachers are required to carefully select and apply teaching strategies that are appropriate to the characteristics and needs of students in a bilingual learning environment. The research problems in this study are: (1) What teaching strategies are employed by the teacher in teaching English in the bilingual class at Al Azhar islamic elementary school Kediri? (2) What challenges are faced by the teacher in implementing the teaching strategies?. The purpose of this study is to describe the teaching strategies implemented by the teacher and to identify the challenges encountered in the implementation of those strategies in a bilingual classroom. This study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological and descriptive qualitative design. The subject of the research was one English teacher of the third-grade bilingual class at Al Azhar Islamic Elementary School Kediri. The data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the teacher used interactive strategies that involved active student participation, such as ice-breaking activities at the beginning of the lesson, singing English songs, and educational games. These strategies were combined with lecture methods, question-and-answer sessions, and group discussions to increase students’ interest in learning. However, in practice, the teacher faced several challenges, such as differences in students’ abilities, difficulties in delivering lessons in an engaging and interactive, and emotional challenges in managing the classroom. Nevertheless, the teacher was able to apply adaptive and creative solutions to create an effective and conducive learning environment.
