Keywords :shadowing technique, pronunciation, fluency, accuraccy This research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using the shadowing technique in improving students’ pronunciation skills among eighth-grade students at MTsN 2 Tulungagung. Pronunciation is one of the essential components in English speaking skills, consisting of fluency and accuracy, including both segmental and suprasegmental features. However, many students still encounter difficulties in pronouncing English sounds accurately and fluently. This study used a pre-experimental design with the one-group pre-test and post-test method. The participants were eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used was a pronunciation test, which covered fluency and accuracy aspects, including short vowels, long vowels, diphthongs, consonants, and suprasegmental features. The treatment was conducted in three sessions using the shadowing technique, where students listened and immediately repeated the audio materials. The results showed a significant improvement in the students’ pronunciation performance. The average score increased from 17.26 in the pre-test to 38.46 in the post-test. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test indicated a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), proving that the shadowing technique had a statistically significant effect on improving students’ pronunciation skills. In conclusion, the shadowing technique is effective in enhancing students’ pronunciation skills, particularly in improving fluency, articulation of English sounds, and natural intonation. It is recommended for teachers to implement this technique as an engaging and practical approach in pronunciation instruction.
