Figurative language is widely used in song lyrics to express ideas and emotions beyond their literal meanings, making songs valuable authentic materials for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning. This study aims to identify the types of figurative language found in selected songs by Noel Gallagher, interpret the emotional meanings conveyed through the figurative expressions, and explore their potential use for EFL teaching at the secondary level. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach using qualitative content analysis. The data consisted of words, phrases, clauses, and lyric lines containing figurative language in ten selected songs by Noel Gallagher. The data were collected through documentation and analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s data analysis procedures. Perrine’s theory was used to classify figurative language, while Leech’s theory of affective meaning was applied to interpret emotional meaning. The findings revealed five types of figurative language: metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, and symbolism. These figurative expressions convey various emotional meanings, including love, hope, longing, regret, sadness, emotional struggle, resilience, and self-reflection. Furthermore, the findings suggest that the selected songs have theoretical potential as authentic materials for EFL teaching by supporting students in identifying figurative language, interpreting implied meanings, enriching vocabulary, encouraging classroom interaction, and developing literary appreciation. In conclusion, figurative language plays an important role in conveying emotional meaning in Noel Gallagher’s selected songs. The findings also indicate that authentic English song lyrics can serve as meaningful theoretical resources for teaching figurative language and enhancing students’ interpretative skills in EFL learning at the secondary level
