The formulation of research problem of this research was “is there any significant difference score in students’ listening ability taught by using animation video and those taught by using a conventional method?”. The purpose of this study was to know whether there is significance difference score in students listening ability taught by using animation video and taught by using conventional method. The study used quasi-experimental design which belonged to quantitative approach by using two group pre-test and post-test. The population was eight grade students at MTsN 5 Kediri. The sample was 78 students who were chosen through purposive sampling technique. Research instruments of this study was administering pre-test-post-test from two classes. Method of data analysis used was statistical analysis using Independent Sample T-Test with SPSS v.26 for windows. The result of independent Sample T-Test showed that the sign value was 0.00 and it was lower than 0.05. Hence, there was significance difference score of the group taught by using animation video and the group taught by using conventional method. That is why null hypothesis H0 was rejected and the alternative hypothesis H1 was accepted. Thus, animation video was effective to improve students’ listening ability
