Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Nurul Chojimah, M.Pd Keyword: Perception, Attitude, Teaching Performance, Native dan Non-Native Teachers. Perception is one of the most important element for understanding individual differences because how people perceived a situation determines how people behave. In this case the situation occurs in the school that is between the teachers and the students. Teachers’ attitude and teaching performance can influence of students’ perception and attitude toward them. Based on the result of research at SMAN 1 Rejotangan Tulungagung, there are several things which that competence of native and non native teacher personality can influence students’ perception. So that it can automatically affect the teaching and learning process in the classroom. The formulation of the research problems of this study are: (1)How students’ perception toward Native teacher?. (2)How students’ perception toward Non-Native teacher?.The aims of this study are: (1) to know how students’ perception toward native teacher (2) to know how students’ perception toward non native teacher. This study is conducted by using descriptive qualitative approach. The teachnique of data collection is interview. The interview is used to find information from students to know how the students’ perceive toward attitude and teaching performance of native and non-native teachers. The subject of this study are 5 students top ranked and 5 students bad ranked. The findings of this study show: (1) there are many students have good perception when they taught by native teacher. Some of them also have perception that native teacher have a good attitudes and good teaching perfomance. They feel more enthusiastic when native teacher delivered the material using English. Some of them also have perception that they feel confuse because a different culture between them and native teacher. (2) some students also prefer to be taught by non-native teacher who have the same culture with them. They also feel happier when taught by non native teacher because they are not confused when native teacher delivered the material.
