Abstract
Key words: Effectiveness, Picture Story Media, Reading Ability There are many medias can be used to teaching learning in elementary school. One of them is using picture story, it is one media which used to learning especially in reading. By using picture story, the teacher can motivate them to do something that can do in real life. Besides, picture story can be a good way to expose them in mastering language. In addition, the picture story media to improve the students’ interest in reading can be stimulated using this way. Problem of the research are: (1) How is the score of students’ reading ability who were taught before using picture story media? (2)How is the score of students’ reading ability who were taught after using picture story media? (3)Is there any different significance achievement of using picture story media on the achievement of 4th grader students at SDN 01 Plosokandang? Purposes of the research are: (1) To know how the score of reading ability for students who taught before using picture story media is. (2) To know how the score of reading ability for students who taught after using picture story media is. (3) To find out any achievement of using picture story score before by taught and after by taught media on the achievement of 4th grade students. Method of the research: Experimental research design. It is intended to find out any significant effect of using picture story media on the students reading ability to 4th grade students at SDN 01 Plosokandang Kedungwaru Tulungagung. The method of collecting data is administering test. The technique of data analysis is using t-test. The formula of T-test as follow: t = Md/√((Σx^(2 ) d)/(N(N-1))) The finding of the research was that the “t_count = 10.17, whereas, t_tablesignificance at 5% = 2.06 and 1% = 2.78 It is significant difference It is known from the “t_count “is bigger than “t_(o.o5) " = 10.17 > 2.06. This means that there was significant difference between the students’ reading score before and after were taught by using picture story. In other word, the use of this media gives good effect on the students.
