Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Nany Soengkono Madayani, SS, M.Pd. Key Words: Educational Value, Shawshank Redemption Movie. Education commonly means process to improve self in ability to survive in our life. Basically, education gives us knowledge in how to have a certain attitude, to talk, and to learn science which is finally can be taught to others. Without education we will blind in everything. Because, the education can make our mind is work like the way it is. In this research, contain one problem formulation to be analyzed. And the problem is, what educational value found in the Shawshank Redemption Movie? Based on the research problem, the objectives of this study is to describe what can character educational values be found in “The Shawshank Redemption” movie. The significance of this study is aimed to the teachers, students, and other researchers. For the teacher, this study is aimed to be a reflection and also to help teacher in teaching his/her students. Especially for the teacher that has students who are intelligent, so that teacher has technique to behave and lead them to the right way, always pay attention, and use the precise method in teaching. Beside for the students, this study is aimed to make them a valuable lesson that students must be a good student although you are the number one in your class. You have your own manner to be a number one. If you seriously in study what you like, you will be number one in certain sector. Moreover, for the other researchers, this study can be an inspiration and secondary data to the other researcher who interest to conduct study about character educational values in others movie, so there will be many movies analyzed and many values gotten and applied. In writing this research, the researcher conducted library research as the research design, where all the data were collected from any literary works related to the research. Literary works reviewed is not only books, but also can be documentation substances, magazine, journal, and newspaper. Library research is emphasized to find any theories, laws, theorems, principles, ideas, and other things that can be used to analyze and solve the research problem. Data source is the data that is collected by the researcher himself or from first-hand experience. Since this research is to uncover the educational value in Shawshank Redemption movie, so the primary data used by the researcher was taken from Shawshank Redemption movie downloaded from the internet. Here, the data were the contexts of the movie and the utterances produced by characters in the dialogues of Shawshank Redemption movie containing educational values. It was supported by the subtitle and the movie script to make the researcher easier to get the meaning and the purpose of the actors and actress. Based on the analysis, the result of this study are follows. The first is, the writer can conclude that there are educational values found in the Shawshank Redemption Movie there are; hard work, discipline, religious, independence, environmental care, social sensitivity, like to read, creativity, appreciating achievement and communicative. Second, are hard work and social sensitivity shown as dominated educational values appearing in the movie. Hard work and social sensitivity shown clearly in some action and dialogue between the characters.
