Keywords: Effectiveness, Vocabulary, Vocabulary Mastery, K.I.M Strategy Vocabulary is one of English components and it will give impact when we learn the skills and the other components. Although vocabulary is very important in English, many students still face difficulties in mastering it. The teacher can use an interesting strategy to motivate the students in learning English especially vocabulary in text-context. K.I.M (Key Word, Information, and Memory Clue) Strategy can be used because it is not only used to help students easier to memorize unfamiliar words but also strengthen students‟ vocabulary mastery. Therefore, this research aimed at knowing the effectiveness of using K.I.M (Key Word, Information, and Memory Clue) Strategy on Seventh Grade Student‟s Contextualize Vocabulary Mastery at SMPN 3 Kalidawir. The formulation of the research problem was: Is there any significant difference on the student's contextualize vocabulary mastery before and after being taught by using K.I.M (Key Word, Information, and Memory Clue) Strategy at seventh grade students of SMPN 3 Kalidawir?. The objective of this research was to find out if there is a significant difference on the students‟ contextualize vocabulary mastery before and after being taught by using K.I.M (Key Word, Information, and Memory Clue) Strategy at seventh grade students of SMPN 3 Kalidawir. The research design used was pre-experimental research design by using one group pre-test post-test with quantitative approach. The population of this research was all students of seventh grade of SMPN 3 Kalidawir. The sample was the students of seven B class in SMPN 3 Kalidawir in which the total of the students are 20 students, purposive sampling technique was used to to choose the sample of the research. Meanwhile, the instrument which is used to collect the data is vocabulary pre-test and post-test. The data was analysed by using Paired Sample Test with SPSS program 16.0 version.The result of this research showed that there is a significant difference in students' scores before and after being taught by using K.I.M (Key Word, Information, and Memory Clue) Strategy. It can be seen from the students‟ score mean of their vocabulary mastery before being taught by using K.I.M (Key Word, Information, and Memory Clue) Strategy was 68.75 and after being taught by using K.I.M (Key Word, Information, and Memory Clue) Strategy was 85.00. The data computation of T-test shows that P-value (Sig) is 0.000, and it is smaller than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.005). It indicated that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In other words, the hypothesis states that the mean of post-test is smaller than or equal to the mean of pre-test, while alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted; it means that the mean of post-test is higher than the mean of pre-test. It can be concluded that K.I.M (Key Word, Information, and Memory Clue) Strategy is an effective strategy for teaching contextualize vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of SMPN 3 Kalidawir. Hence, K.I.M (Key Word, Information, and Memory Clue) Strategy is a recommended strategy to teach vocabulary.
