Advisor: Faizatul Istiqomah, M.E Keywords: reading comprehension, listen read discuss Reading is learning ways for students to enrich their ability and knowledge because reading is the process of deriving meaning from text. With reading the reader can get information and knowledge. Reading cannot be separated from comprehension. Comprehension is a process that involves thinking, teaching, past experiences, and knowledge. In process comprehending text the students build their prior knowledge then they try to engage with the words that they have identified with comprehension strategy that they have. In reading activity, students usually face some problems such as can not find information in the text. Some problems came from the students self, which were by the student ability of english language. Most of the student were incapable of understanding the meaning (indonesia) of the text they read and they did not familiar with the vocabulary in the text. So, the teacher must help the students to comprehend the text. The teacher can use a learning strategy such as Listen Read Discuss (LRD) because this strategy can help students more effective in reading process because a strategy makes the students enjoy in learning. The objective of this study are: (1) Does LRD (Listen, Read, and Discuss) Strategy improve student’s reading comprehension in Narrative text at second grade of MTs 8 Tulungagung in the Academic Years of 2018/2019? (2) How can LRD Strategy improve students’ reading comprehension in Narrative text at second grade of MTs 8 Tulungagung in the Academic Years of 2018/2019? This research was conducted in the Second Grade students’ of MTs 8 Tulungagung, The subject of this research was the tenth grade VII-B students of MTs 8 Tulungagung Listen Read Discuss (LRD) strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension. The students can: (1) identify main idea; (2) find detail information; and (3) find synonym of word. The improvement of the students’ reading comprehension can also be shown by the score. The method of the research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). In this research, the researcher conducted two cycles. Which consisted of planning, implementing the action, observing, reflecting, and revising the plan, and ended by post-test. To collect the data, the researcher used test, observation, interview, questionnaire and document. The findings of this research are first the score is in creasing after students are taught using listen read discuss. Second listen read discuss has significant impact on the second grade students’ reading comprehension of MTsN 8 Tulungagung. The result of the pre-test was 60, in post-test 1 increased to 67.5 and increased to 78.1 in post-test II. Besides that, the class condition also improves when the researcher implemented LRD strategy, as follows: (1) the students were more active when they wanted to ask and to answer the questions; (2) the students enjoyed teaching learning and they paid attention in teaching learning process; (3) the students were more enthusiasm in reading class. This indicates that LRD strategy can improve students‟ reading comprehension of the second grade of MTsN 8 Tulungagung.
